Shirley has legal qualifications and expertise in Hong Kong, Australia, England & Wales, New Zealand, Cayman Islands, BVI and the Greater Bay Area, PRC. She has a double degree of law and accounting (with Distinction) and has also completed the Chartered Accountants Program. She has had solid training as both a lawyer and an accountant.

Shirley specialises in mergers & acquisitions and corporate/commercial matters, and has over two decades of experience advising on complex corporate and commercial transactions in China and across Asia. She generally advises private and public listed companies and private equity clients on all types of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and joint ventures, as well as general corporate matters, including corporate governance, directors’ duties and shareholders’ rights, listing rules and compliance.
Shirley garners praise in providing responsive and diligent services to her clients which include Chinese state-owned, privately-owned and international enterprises, MNCs, Japanese conglomerates, financial institutions, private equity firms, asset managers, family offices and listed companies.
Shirley is consistently recognised as a leading lawyer in her field by various legal directories. Shirley has been named “Legal Trailblazer of the Year” at the ALB Women In Law Awards 2023. Shirley has also been shortlisted for “Dealmaker of the Year - North Asia”, “Private Practitioner of the Year, North Asia” and “Mentor of the Year” by The ALB Women In Law Awards 2023.
