Hermia Wong

Hermia is a family lawyer who also serves as a parenting coordinator and trainee family mediator, specialising in all matters related to divorce, financial applications, and disputes related to children.

About

Hermia graduated from King’s College London with a Bachelor of Laws, and subsequently obtained a Master of Laws specialised in International Children’s Rights Law at Leiden University in the Netherlands. Committed to serving the community she grew up in, she returned to Hong Kong for her PCLL at the University of Hong Kong.

Trained and practised within the sector in both London and Hong Kong, Hermia brings in a depth of experience in family law. Hermia had also undertaken secondments with the Department of Justice Hong Kong (Judicial Review Team) and a top-tier criminal defence specialist firm.

As a strong advocate for amicably resolving family disputes, Hermia assists clients with their decision-making processes using an empathetic and evidence-based approach. In 2018, Hermia published her Master of Laws thesis on Collaborative Practice online. Her relevant skill sets are further enhanced by Advanced Family Mediation Training accredited by HKMAAL, Parenting Coordination Training approved by AFCC in the US, and Child Inclusive Mediation and Counselling Training in Australia.

Hermia is admitted to practise in Hong Kong. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Putonghua.

Experience

  • Crossley applications involving pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements; and the application of the Crossley protocol in divorce proceedings.
  • All forms of ancillary relief in cases involving elements of nuptial settlements, companies, family businesses, assets disposition and tracing, trusts, loan arrangements, post-separation accruals, inheritance, and third parties’ interests.
  • Contentious main suit with regard to the application for decree nisi to be made absolute.
  • Tri-jurisdictional disputes in the Greater Bay Area including divorce, financial and children custody proceedings and dealing with the registration and the setting aside of Mainland Judgments in the Hong Kong Family Court.
  • Children proceedings including parental orders and advising on matters related to surrogacy, wardship proceedings; and applications regarding the removal of children and child abduction.
  • Domestic violence injunction proceedings running parallel with concurrent criminal proceedings.
