In his role as a Consultant, David works alongside the Director of Risk and General Counsel in advising on regulatory matters relating to the firm’s legal practice, as well as supporting other members of the management and operations teams in the governance of the firm and the management of our contractual relationships with our suppliers. In doing this David draws on many years of experience in advising on clients’ non-contentious corporate and commercial matters including: project and procurement contracts; acquisitions/disposals; international joint ventures; outsourcing and other long term business relationship structures.
The development and use of technology has often been key to the clients that David represented prior to taking on his role, with a particular focus on: information technology; cleantech; transport; energy (including renewables) and natural resources. His clients ranged from individual entrepreneurs to governments.
In addition, David leads the firm’s eFORCE and is helping the firm on its progress to becoming an environmentally sustainable business.
David has authored various publications on commercial law matters. He is also a liveryman and active participant in the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists.
David is admitted to practise in England and Wales.
Experience
- Advised on a series of contracts for an overseas government in respect of the design, build and supply of ships, patrol craft and helicopters by UK, US and Australian suppliers with related long-term training and maintenance arrangements
- Advised on the establishment and implementation over many years of a major joint venture in the UK transport sector
- Drafted and advised on structures for the exploitation of new renewable energy technologies and on innovative waste to energy contracts
