Ahmad has more than 25 years of experience within the GCC. His practice spans a wide range of legal areas including mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings (IPOs), joint ventures, property law, and labor law. Renowned for his strategic insight and in-depth knowledge in corporate, financial, and policy matters, Ahmad is a distinguished authority in his field.
With his extensive experience in capital markets, Ahmad adeptly navigates both regulatory and transactional landscapes, establishing himself as a sought-after advisor for complex legal challenges. Ahmad’s contributions have been pivotal in shaping the legal frameworks and business practices within the GCC.
Ahmad received his LLB from the University of Jordan and his LLM from Harvard Law School. He is also a member of the New York Bar.
Experience
- Assisted in drafting the National Product Law and conducting a Rules of Origin review in collaboration with the Qatar Development Bank and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
- Facilitated the listing of Qatar First Bank on the Qatar Stock Exchange, marking it as the first and only Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) company to be listed there.
- Advised the underwriters on the US$4 billion sovereign Sukuk issued by the State of Qatar, the first sovereign Sukuk in Qatar.
- Represented Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank on the financial regulatory aspects of its US$1 billion offering (Reg. S) of 6.375% Additional Tier 1 Capital Certificates listed on the London Stock Exchange, the first perpetual instrument in the Middle East compliant with Islamic finance principles.
- Advised a vehicle fully owned by the Government of the State of Qatar represented by the Ministry of Labour on its restructuring to implement government-approved initiatives.
