Charles Russell Speechlys strengthens Dubai litigation team with appointment of tenth Partner, Maher Al Nashar

Charles Russell Speechlys today announces the appointment of Partner, Maher Al Nashar, who joins the Firm’s Litigation team in Dubai. Maher joins Charles Russell Speechlys from Clyde & Co and is the third international Partner to join the Firm this year.

Maher has three decades of experience advising clients seeking local law advice and litigation strategy across the Middle East. Much of his work relates to the application of local law within the context of onshore commercial disputes and his practice encompasses both contentious and non-contentious matters. His expertise includes drafting complex legal documents which span various industries such as real estate, commercial, arbitration and insurance.

Maher has contributed to pleadings before different courts and jurisdictions across the Middle East region, including Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Bahrain, and is involved in all stages of court proceedings.

Patrick Gearon, Partner and Head of the Middle East practice, comments:

As we continue to enhance our practice and deepen our capabilities in the GCC region, we are pleased to welcome Maher to the team. In response to client demand, we are strategically expanding our Arabic litigation practice and Maher’s addition strengthens our ability to apply local law in broader commercial disputes.

Ghassan El Daye, Partner and Head of Civil Law Litigation in the Middle East, comments:

I look forward to collaborating with Maher to continue developing our local law and litigation practice across the Middle East. His full Arabic proficiency and deep understanding of the regional legal landscape will enhance our team’s effectiveness and will further instil client confidence in our services.

Stewart Hey, Partner and Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution division, adds:

Maher is the second Partner to join the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution division this month, ear-marking our growth trajectory for the year ahead. We pride ourselves on being an international, collaborative division and Maher's expertise will be instrumental in enhancing our cross-border expertise and client services.

Maher Al Nashar, Partner, says:

At Charles Russell Speechlys, I plan to harness my specialist technical skills, particularly in drafting and litigation strategy, to contribute to the development of the Firm's local litigation practice in the Middle East. I look forward to working alongside the wider team and delivering forward thinking solutions for clients.

Maher joins the Firm today alongside Corporate Partner, Tun Zaw Mra, in Singapore and Financial Services and Funds Partner, Racheal Muldoon, in the United Kingdom (London). His arrival also follows the recent appointment of Commercial Dispute Resolution Partner, Aline Wey Speirs, in Zurich.
