Charles Russell Speechlys strategically enhances its European operations with the arrival of new Partner Aline Wey Speirs in Switzerland

Charles Russell Speechlys today announces the appointment of Aline Wey Speirs as a Partner within the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution division. Aline joins the Firm’s Zurich office from Altenburger Legal + Tax Ltd, where she headed up the Dispute Resolution Team for five years. Her arrival follows Charles Russell Speechlys’ recent expansion into Italy and reflects the Firm’s international growth ambitions.

Over the past 20 years, Aline’s practice has developed three main strands – litigation, mediation and arbitration – with her practice primarily focusing on complex domestic and multi-jurisdictional commercial litigation and white-collar crime. Aline possesses extensive expertise in asset recovery and protection, including managing cross-border provisional measures such as freezing orders, enforcing foreign judgments and awards, initiating insolvency proceedings, and leading internal investigations. She has regularly appeared before and has successfully tried cases in trial and appellate courts at every level throughout Switzerland, including the Cantonal Courts, the Zurich Commercial Court and the Federal Supreme Court.

In addition to her white-collar crime expertise, Aline has a strong mediation practice and advises private clients on family law related matters, leveraging her experience as a former substitute Judge. Aline is also a Member of the Board of Directors at Zugerberg Finanz AG and Erni Group Holding AG.

Michael Wells-Greco, Partner and Head of Charles Russell Speechlys Switzerland, comments:

As we expand internationally, Aline’s appointment marks a significant milestone in our strategy to bolster our European operations and enhance our service offerings. Her strong business sector experience coupled with her growing private client practice will be a significant asset to the Firm and a particular draw for high-net-worth clients who value a comprehensive, client-focused approach to legal services.

Stewart Hey, Partner and Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, adds:

Aline’s arrival adds significant bench strength to our Swiss team on the ground and perfectly complements the growth strategy of our Litigation and Dispute Resolution offering. Her appointment will help to actualise our international ambitions as a division and kick-starts our growth trajectory for 2025.

Aline Wey Speirs, Partner, says:

Being part of a strong international team is imperative to me as I build out my practice and I am very pleased to be starting the New Year at Charles Russell Speechlys. The Firm’s reach will allow me to expand my domestic offering as well as better serve my growing international client base.

Aline’s appointment follows the recent appointment of Carolyn Steppler as a UK Tax Consultant in the Firm’s Zurich office. Aline is admitted to practice in Switzerland and speaks fluent German, English and French.
