Charles Russell Speechlys advises the University of Strathclyde on the incorporation and establishment of its Bahrain Campus

Charles Russell Speechlys is delighted to have advised the University of Strathclyde on the incorporation, establishment and operations of its new Innovation, Research and Education Hub in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Hub has been developed in partnership with S Eleven Educational and expands the University of Strathclyde’s presence in Bahrain where it has been delivering MBA courses since 1995.

The Charles Russell Speechlys team has played a pivotal role in advising the University of Strathclyde so that the new Hub could be operational in time for the 2023/24 Student intake providing the necessary support to facilitate the same.

The Charles Russell Speechlys team comprised members of our Bahrain and UK offices, providing advice covering corporate incorporation, commercial agreements, data protection and data transfers, employment matters and real estate and lease advice.

Gareth Mills, Lead Partner, comments:

We are thrilled to have supported the University with such an important project. The Hub is an incredibly exciting venture and will offer the highest-quality higher education programs, partnering with local businesses and students. The support and advice provided to the University underscores the significant capabilities of our team members to successfully navigate cross-border matters within our extensive network and the firm’s investment in the growth and economic development of Bahrain.

Louise McKean, University Compliance Officer, University of Strathclyde, adds:

We have been very happy with the collaboration with Charles Russell Speechlys, who understood our challenges, our requirements, and our overall needs as part of establishing the Hub. The Charles Russell Speechlys team showed great commitment to help us close the necessary workstreams as required to achieve our launch and supported us with providing the needed legal advice throughout.

The team was led by Partner, Gareth Mills, and supported by Jonathan Fisher (Senior Associate), Reem Al Mahroos (Legal Director), Dana Marshad (Associate) and Tariq Kioumji (Paralegal) in Bahrain and Jason Saiban (Partner) and Janine Regan (Legal Director) in London.
