Charles Russell Speechlys advises on the acquisition of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club

Charles Russell Speechlys has advised the buyer on the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Feliciana EFL Limited, holder of a majority stake in Wycombe Wanderers Football Club Limited.

The acquisition of Wycombe Wanderers Football Club Limited completed at the end of the 2023-2024 EFL League One season, with the take over receiving EFL approval prior to completion.

This deal continues the trend of several recent transactions involving English football clubs that Keir Gordon, Tom Smitham and the Charles Russell Speechlys Corporate Sport team have acted on.

Eduard Vyshnyakov, Wycombe Wanderers board member, commented:

It was great working with Keir, and the team on this acquisition. Their knowledge of the football industry and significant experience on football club acquisitions both on the buy side and sell side proved invaluable.

Keir Gordon, Corporate Partner, commented:

We are delighted for the Wanderers fanbase at the beginning of this exciting and transformative period under new ownership. This transaction together with the five other football club transactions we have worked on in the past 12 months demonstrates the continued trend of private investment into football clubs in the English leagues and highlights the growing interest in sports assets as an investment and football clubs in particular.

The team was led by Corporate Partner Keir Gordon, supported by Legal Director Tom Smitham and Iwan Thomas (Associate). The wider deal team included Lee Medlock and Ben Butterworth (Real Estate), Emmanuel Wiafe (Banking and Finance), Amy Farrer and Joseph Fleming (Corporate), Emily Chalkley and Sam Lawn (Employment), Rachel Bell and Henry Cuthbert (Commercial) and Lewis Currie (Tax).
