Charles Russell Speechlys recognised as a Top 40 UK employer in the 2023 Social Mobility Employer Index

We are delighted to have been recognised as a Top 75 Employer for Social Mobility in the Social Mobility Employers Index, achieving a ranking of 37th, up 15 places from 2022. This is the second consecutive year we have improved our ranking, underlining our commitment to improving social mobility.

The index is compiled by the Social Mobility Foundation - the leading authority on employer-led social mobility and is a rigorous assessment of the steps being taken by employers to ensure they are accessing and progressing talent from all backgrounds. Entrants to the index are assessed across key areas, including their work with young people, how they attract, retain and progress talent, data collection and advocacy. Entrants are also provided with a bespoke feedback report highlighting good practice along with suggested areas for improvement.

David Savage, Social Mobility Partner, comments:

“Our rise into the Top 40 of this year’s Social Mobility Employer Index highlights both our commitment to taking action on socioeconomic diversity, and the progress we are making as a Firm in that regard.

"Social Mobility is a key area of focus in our DEI Strategy. We want everyone to feel proud of who they are and confident that they are valued and able to fulfil their potential here. We are absolutely committed to the principle that recruitment to - and progress within - the Firm should always be based on your potential to succeed here, not your socio-economic background, the type of school or university you attended, or your accent!”

Karen Stages, Chief People Officer, adds:

“Progress in our social mobility initiatives are a key part of our overall efforts to achieve greater diversity as a Firm. We have continued to develop our strategy and approach, working closely with our Future Firm Group, and have made great progress in recent years but we recognise there is still more to be done. We are very pleased to have risen by 15 places this year.”
