Charles Russell Speechlys named ‘UK Trademark Prosecution Firm of the Year’ at the Managing IP Awards 2023
Charles Russell Speechlys has been awarded the title of ‘UK Trademark Prosecution Firm of the Year’ at this year’s Managing IP Awards, on the 18th year it has been held.
The Managing IP Awards are held to highlight the accomplishments of the the top law firms and their clients. Awards are presented across a range of categories to firms, individuals and companies behind the ‘most innovative and challenging’ IP work of the past year.
The Intellectual Property team at Charles Russell Speechlys - led by Mary Bagnall, Charlotte Duly, who is Head of Brand Protection, and Nick White - covers a range of areas relating to IP, including IP enforcement, IP commercialisation and, as this award specifically recognises, IP prosecution. The team has achieved impressive results for clients over the past year, including securing a colour trade mark in the High Court for Cadbury UK Limited - meaning the company could successfully register a trade mark for a specific shade of purple, with no contours and no description defining its use. Earlier this year, the team also successfully opposed the registration of a certification mark for Manuka Honey for the Australian Manuka Honey Association (AMHA).
The team’s award was announced and presented to them on 21 June 2023 at the Hilton London Metropole.
The Firm's Middle East offering also received a nomination for 'Firm of the Year: Middle East and North Africa', alongside just three others.
