The Lawyer interviews Karen Stages and David Collins on increasing transparency around the partnership track
The Lawyer covers our Firm and the work being carried out to increase transparency around the route to Partnership, following an interview with our Chief People Officer, Karen Stages, and David Collins, Partner and head of the Business Advisory and Transaction Services group.
The article explains the work our Firm is carrying out to demistify the partnership track and to make it "more candidate-led”. It talks through the rough process for applying for promotion to Partner, and changes that have been made (for example holding interviews earlier than before).
"By reversing our process, we are able to have full discussions in interview and determine a suitable time frame for [the individual's] promotion”, Karen explains.
Later in the piece, David talks through our Firm's Legal Director role, which for many can present a viable alternative career path. He explains: "It’s not a partner role, but it is a senior role you have to make a case for, you have to interview for, and you get paid more for.”
The piece then goes on to explore the role of our Business School in giving staff leadership and management skills (including non-lawyers in Business Services), and the value of our Firm's reverse mentoring scheme in understanding peoples' feelings towards, and percptions of, Partnership.
