The Lawyer covers our Training Contract support, in light of the shift to the SQE

As part of our forward looking approach to training and development, we regularly conduct reviews to evolve our Early Talent offering and CRS Business School programmes, in line with business needs.

Currently, we are carrying out a strategic review and training needs analysis of our Ignite programme among our trainees, recent NQs, knowledge development teams, early careers professionals, existing trainee supervisors and business services managers through our Business School. With the objective of supporting our Early Talent to develop, as the legal industry goes through some changes with the shift to the SQE.

The review will gather feedback from all areas of the firm involved in junior training and is nicely timed with our SQE starters who will commence their training contracts in September.

Furthermore, Joanna outlines the approach whereby future trainees will undertake the SQE Plus to support in depth study in areas aligning to our practice areas, going beyond the standard SRA requirements, bridging the gap between the LPC electives and SQE.

Joanna Stevens, Early Talent Manager, comments:

The review is all about understanding strategically what the firm needs to do to support our trainees and apprentices in helping them to be the best lawyer they can be.

Supporting our trainees is a responsibility for a whole range of people at the firm.

We’re working with all of these groups to help them understand what the changes are to the studying these trainees will have gone through and what that means. It’s hard for us to predict what the changes to the qualification might mean, which is why it’s that constant evolution to give us a mechanism to be agile as and when we need to be.
