Nick Hurley writes for People Management on the Liberal Democrats’ employment law proposals ahead of the General Election
With political party manifestos being published throughout this month, Nick Hurley, Partner and Head of Employment, outlines the legislative changes businesses can expect if the party come into power next month.
The Liberal Democrats have outlined a number of pledges that would impact on businesses and employment law such as:
- Employee ownership
- Living wage and employment rights
- Flexible working and diversity.
Nick adds:
The Liberal Democrats' employment law outline pledges are extensive and envisage significant changes for both employers and employees. Of course, the chances of any of these proposals actually becoming law are as likely as Ed Davey winning a new iteration of It's a Knockout, although it will be interesting to see if any of these ideas end up being repurposed by the next government or become private member bills.
