Fiona Edmond writes for The Law Society Gazette on taking maternity leave as a Deputy Senior Partner
In an article for the Law Society Gazette, our Deputy Senior Partner, Fiona Edmond, shares her experience of taking maternity leave at a slightly later point in her career, and her thoughts and feelings in response to entering an exciting new chapter of life.
In the piece, Fiona reflects on the initial questions she had on finding out she was expecting a baby - for example, what would it mean for her practice? How will clients and colleagues react? How much will everything have changed when she gets back? But, she continues, sharing the news was an "overwhelmingly positive experience". She explains:
I found the reactions from clients, colleagues and intermediaries alike really affirming. It brought home to me that relationships underpin my daily experience of work and my wider career - they are fundamental to my enjoyment of it, as well as to the 'doing' of it.
