In a world where correspondence can be viewed with increasing ease thanks to the latest developments in connected tech, most employees will not be terribly surprised to learn that their employer may search, monitor, retain and use their work-related correspondence.
On the other hand, both employers and employees will typically take the view that an employee’s private messages on their own personal devices are not the concern of their employer.
